I dictated the address into my phone that I wanted to navigate to. Google ended up trying to direct me to "750 North Clyde get out of there Clyde stop that." #BeagleLife

Slice of life, downtown Portland, Ore.: I planned to catch the Green or Yellow Line up to Pioneer Square and walk over to Ray's Ragtime thrift shop to meet my wife and pick out masques for a masquerade ball we're attending tonight. The train was eight minutes away, so I started walking. The 56 bus rolled up just as I approached the next intersection. Now, I don't know where the 56 goes, exactly, but I knew it was going in at least roughly the same direction I was going, so I hopped on. It turned out to be going in exactly the same direction I was going, but, on the way, a man clad only in tighty-whiteys suddenly ran across the street. "Hm. There's one," said the driver cryptically before she suddenly lurched rightward to the curb. She apologized to the passengers, "Almost missed my stop." "Yeah," I piped up. "That was a bit distracting." Portland: It's not the weirdness, it's the understatement.

Awesome sunset we had this evening.

I just can't wait to hear Fox News's reaction to this.

Since the Doug Fir was one of the few places we got to visit on our (shortened by the Coastal Starlate) first visit to Portland, it's arguably one of the top five reasons we're here now. And every night we've spent there since has been memorable.  http://www.wweek.com/portland/blog-32292-from_the_vault_doug_firs_grand_opening.html

I've been kind of on the fence about Measure 90, but this article gets me off the fence.

I've been kind of on the fence about Measure 90, but this article gets me off the fence. "Texas billionaire" + "education reform" + "Libertarian" + "Enron" = If he's fer it, I'm agin' it. http://www.oregonlive.com/mapes/index.ssf/2014/10/texas_billionaire_in_biggest_i.html

Ack!

Ack! Car2Go keeps sending me e-mails assuming that I have friends in Austin and Brooklyn just because I live in Portland. The worst part is that yes, I do. I don't know which is worse: being stereotyped, or being the stereotype.

I need a break from teaching.

I need a break from teaching. Dude's phone started playing obnoxious twangy country music on the train and I almost took it up from him.
