Once upon a time, we had these publications called newsweeklies.  Okay, they all still exist in some fashion, but they are a shadow of what they once were. There were three: US News & World Report, Newsweek and The Daily Beast (minus the Daily Beast part), and TIME. For while in the 80s, US News & World Report  would run gloating advertisements every time Newsweek, and TIME ran very similar covers. Willamette Week  and Portland Mercury reminded me of that this week.
