We have had a sick child for a couple of days.

We have had a sick child for a couple of days. #Clydethebeagle was hacking and throwing up mucus and looking at me with his sad beagle eyes, but I couldn't fix it. We took him to the vet last night and he's doing better today. He had a chest x-ray and has some heart issues, but this is not really a surprise since a) he is old, and b) has been accused for three years by three different vets of having a heart murmur. For now it is not bad enough to need medication, but we are supposed to observe his breathing and exercise. The first won't be too hard: we just have to count how many times he breathes while asleep. The second, though, is more problematic: Clyde was never really a fan of exercise to begin with, so it's kind of guesswork to judge if he has started to become what is apparently called "exercise averse".

  1. Keep an eye on the old boy. He looks very sweet.

  2. Poor fella his nose looks a bit thinned.  He's clearly had a rough go of it....

  3. Aww, poor guy. Does he still play? Play is just a much more fun form of exercise so if he starts not wanting to play at all or do some other of his favorite activities, I'd say that would be a good clue towards "exercise averseness".

  4. Yes, Catie Cox, he plays when his little brother #austinthebeagle  bugs him to. He's usually very active and bounding on his 10:00 pm walk, so we'll probably watch that one.

  5. How old is he? My little boy also has a heart murmur, but he's only 8.

  6. I just accidentally hit a button that reported/deleted a comment that was posted here about an hour ago when I was trying to +1 it. Sorry about that!
