I think this piece is a bit unfair to beagles. Our beagles have not been destructive; they are builders and collectors. They build large piles of soft things and collect things that smell and taste good. Beagles are connoisseurs of soft things and tasty things and smelly things. This writer is looking at the breed the wrong way round, which probably explains her lack of success with them.

I'm on my third beagle. Housebreaking wasn't an issue with any of them.
ReplyDeleteNor with either of our two boys, Victor H.
ReplyDeleteNo ours are awesome i would def get more beagles!
ReplyDeleteWe currently have Beagles # 4 and 5. All but the first one were/are rescues. Only one, who was about 8 when we adopted him, had any sort of bathroom issues, and even he responded to training. He really was just marking territory. None have been destructive. They've all been merry, comical, veracious eaters and wonderful companions.
